One of the more exciting news pieces to come out of the latter half of 2017 was Drinkbox Studios bringing back Guacamelee for round numero dos. But in the months after the Paris Games Week announcement, it appeared that it would be a timed exclusive for PlayStation 4. While that looks to still be the case, PC players (and our own Chris Jarrard) can now rest easy, because Guacamelee 2 has officially been announced for Steam.

For those unfamiliar with this sequel, heroic luchador Juan Aguacate returns seven years after the events of the original game. A new evil has risen, threatening Mexico and all of time and space. Juan will be joined by his friends, as users can jump in with four-player co-op. For an idea of how the Metroidvania adventure is shaping up, check out our PlayStation Experience hands-on preview.

Much like the PS4 version of the game, Guacamelee 2 on PC has been given the release date of Soon™. Anyone looking for a chance to try this game out sooner than that can venture on over to PAX East, where it will be part of the Indie Megabooth. Meanwhile, those looking to catch up on the original Guacamelee or any of Drinkbox's other games can also check out the full catalog on Steam, where all Drinkbox games are being offered for 90 percent off, as part of the studio's 10th birthday.
