Well it has been a doozy of a last 24 hours, you had the royal rumble , a rocky Sunday and the tragic passing of Kobe Bryant among others. Life can be slow for the week and come at you fast during a weekend . Just never know what will happen .

Just a post concerning Monday night game nights

To make remembering the events easier, Violet and I are combining our Town of Salem game nights and Board Games Plus game nights into one Social Monday game night.

At present, we will still be alternating between ToS and Board/Card/Jackbox/etc games, and will alternate hosting. The game(s) for that evening will be posted with the initial announcement each Monday, along with what you will need to join (e.g. a cellphone, a copy of the game, etc.) - Selenite
Contact either of them if you have any questions

YouTube signs exclusive streaming deal for Activision e-sports like Call of Duty and Overwatch

Video game publisher Activision Blizzard has entered into a multiyear partnership with Google that will see the search giant’s cloud platform power all of Activision Blizzard’s game hosting and other technical needs. But more importantly, as part of the deal, YouTube will become the exclusive streaming partner for all of the game publisher’s big e-sports titles, including the upcoming season of the Overwatch League and the Call of Duty League, which kicks off today in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

The deal is a huge win for YouTube, which has struggled to compete with game streaming leader Twitch, despite YouTube being the largest video site in the world and the second most-visited website on the planet behind only its parent company’s search engine. Twitch was the exclusive streaming partner for Activision Blizzard’s first two seasons of the Overwatch League, and Twitch has long been the go-to destination for live gaming entertainment.

That looks like it’s beginning to change, in part due to competing platforms’ willingness to spend large amounts of money to lock down talent and ink exclusivity deals like this one. Since its launch in 2015, YouTube Gaming failed to flourish as its own distinct section of the broader YouTube ecosystem, and earlier this year, the company even shuttered the standalone YouTube Gaming app because its existence caused “confusion” among viewers. In its place is a game-focused hub on YouTube for finding popular live streams and videos.

Yet the failure of YouTube Gaming as a standalone platform hasn’t stopped the video site from continuing to try to capture more of the live-streaming market. YouTube has signed streaming exclusivity deals with top creators like Jack “CouRage” Dunlop and Lachlan Power in recent months, and the platform continues to be the prime destination for prerecorded footage. Even though many streamers still remain on Twitch or, like Fortnite star Tyler “Ninja” Blevins, have moved over to Microsoft’s competing Mixer, YouTube is still where all of these creators post highlight videos, vlogs, and other content that lives on after it’s streamed live.

In that context, this Activision deal is another chapter in the ongoing streaming wars saga playing out between online video platforms, streaming services, traditional cable and network companies, and content creators. In this particular scenario, it’s Amazon-owned Twitch competing against Google-owned YouTube, and Facebook is also trying to build out its own live-streaming platform to capitalize on the popularity of gaming content. But it seems like it’s only a matter of time before other big streaming wars players, be it Disney or HBO or Netflix, try to get more involved in the live-streaming and gaming spaces, too.

“With more than 200 million gamers a day watching more than 50 billion hours of gaming content per year, YouTube provides gamers and their passionate fans with the most popular video gaming platform in the world,” Ryan Wyatt, YouTube’s head of gaming, said in a statement.

“Both the Overwatch League and Call of Duty League are the quintessential examples of world class esports content. As a former Call of Duty esports commentator myself, I couldn’t be more excited for Activision Blizzard to choose YouTube as its exclusive home for the digital live streaming of both leagues. This partnership further demonstrates our dedication to having a world class live streaming product for gaming.”

Ark: Genesis delayed until February, but on the plus side it'll have giant space whales

Ark: Genesis, the first chapter of the next expansion for Ark: Survival Evolved, was originally planned for release in December of 2019, though it was later moved to January of 2020. Studio Wildcard announced today, however, that Genesis has been shuffled back once again, now to February 25, so you'll have to wait a bit longer to build your base on the back of a massive sea turtle.

On the plus side, the new screenshot above gives us a nice look at a couple of the expansion's space whales. I assume that's a plus, at least. Whales are good, space is good—space whales should therefore be double-good. We'll find out (hopefully) in 31 days.

Perhaps less good, especially if you fall out of your turtle base and into the water, there appears to be a massive eel boss in Genesis, too.
There will also be new biomes on the Genesis map, including lava regions, more expansive oceans (to fit the giant turtles and eels), high-altitude mountain ranges, a low-gravity lunar biome (home of the space whales, which are actually called Astrocetus), and the swampy bog you can see below in another new screenshot.

"We’re extremely sorry to push it back an extra month, but as we have been heads-down with the rest of the team polishing, balancing and putting the final pieces together, we really felt that the extra wait will be worth it both for the quality of the base game and the ambitious new expansion," reads a post on Ark's site.

Netflix to release a Witcher animated film

The Witcher is already one of Netflix’s most popular shows — at least according to its confusing new metrics — so it’s no surprise that it’s getting a spinoff. On Wednesday afternoon, the streaming giant announced that it was in development on an anime film set in The Witcher universe. The news was first reported on fansite Renadian Intelligence, and later confirmed by io9 before Netflix officially announced the news.

The film will be called The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf, and will expand on the world of the series by “exploring a powerful new threat facing the Continent.” While the press release isn’t quite clear about what that means, it does sound like it will move the action away from the main plot of the show and focus on a side story.

The spinoff is being developed by The Witcher showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich and producer Beau DeMayo. Animation is being handled by Studio Mir, the Korean studio behind acclaimed animated shows like The Legend of Korra and Netflix’s Voltron: Legendary Defenders.

For now the spinoff has only been announced as one single film, and it isn’t clear if it will continue after that. The Witcher has already been renewed for a second season, though the producers have said that season 2 won’t be released until sometime in 2021. The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf doesn’t have a release date yet.

Stardew Valley Sold 10 Million Copies on All Platforms Including Nintendo Switch

Stardew Valley has sold 10 million copies, including Nintendo Switch, and was originally an indie game designed by an American Indie game designer named Eric Barone. From humble beginnings to uncontrollable success, Eric "ConcernedApe" Barone was able to develop a game so addictive it has gained mainstream success!

Originating from the concept of Harvest Moon, Stardew Valley offers a wider range of action choices, which is one of the reasons why it has gained success because the original fans of Harvest Moon have hopped on to try this game out because of their love of Harvest Moon. Sadly, Harvest Moon has been silent, which is why the opportunity sprung up for Eric Barone to ride on the popularity of this game. Aside from offering nostalgic feels, this game also brings a lot of things we wished Harvest Moon included in the experience.

RUMOR: A Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic Remake/Re-Imagining is in Development

Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic could be making its return if a recent rumor has any credence. Two sources relayed word to website Cinelinx, which has a positive track record when it comes to Star Wars. One source claimed that KotOR would be returning as a remake, after years of being placed on the “back burner.” The other source referred to it as a pseudo “sequel” reimagining that would compile aspects from both KotOR and its sequel, Knights of the Old Republic II: Sith Lords. Both of the original games are no longer canon since Disney bought the rights to Star Wars and redefined the canon elements of the franchise.

Earlier last year, Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy stated that Knights of the Old Republic is something the studio talks about “all the time,” though, to what capacity is unknown. Kennedy could be referring to a project unrelated to video games or the story elements that it introduced, many of which have found their way back into the Disney canon of Star Wars. There are also rumors of a Jedi: Fallen Order sequel and a new multimedia saga kicking off with a Star Wars game in 2021, neither of which have been officially confirmed.

Originally released in 2003 for the Xbox and developed by BioWare, Knights of the Old Republic (KotOR) rose to fame as one of the studio’s first massive hits, preceding 2007’s Mass Effect. The most recent Star Wars video game entry was the EA-published Jedi: Fallen Order, which ended up being one of 2019’s bestselling games. Prior to that, EA published Star Wars Battlefront II in 2017, which wasn’t as well-received at launch, though fans did eventually come around on it after multiple updates and it continues to perform strongly for the company.

Cinelinx originally reported on the return of KotOR in 2015, with three separate sources confirming its existence at the time. The game was supposedly shelved in 2016 but reports say it has now re-entered development.
