Stardew Valley's massive 1.4 update has arrived

The day Stardew Valley fans have been eagerly awaiting is upon us. The hefty 1.4 Stardew Valley update has landed on Steam and GoG, bringing with it scores of new features, hundreds of cosmetics, optimizations and bug fixes, quality of life improvements, and more.

The Stardew Valley developer blog highlights some of the biggest additions, including new 14-heart events for every spouse in the game. Above you can see the new fish ponds, which allow players to raise and harvest fish, and there's a new farm map called Four Corners—ideal for multiplayer games because it provides a separate quadrant for each co-op farmer to inhabit.

Some of the quality of life improvements include being able to stack large items such as kegs, and a social tab that keeps track of villagers’ likes and dislikes. And there's a new end-game mystery involving an abandoned building, which sounds spooky.

  • Over 60 new items, some fun, some practical, and some powerful
  • Added 24 new hairstyles, 181 new shirts, 35 new hats, 14 new pants , and 2 new boots
  • Junimo Kart has been almost completely re-done
  • Sheds can be upgraded to double their interior size
  • Added 2 new monsters and 2 new alternative levels to the mines
  • A new type of upgrade at the Blacksmith’s
  • An emote menu for your farmer (default key is Y)
  • Your collections tab now keeps track of all the letters you’ve received
  • 14 new music tracks!
  • Hundreds of bug fixes

Call of Duty Modern Warfare update: Season 1 Pass patch news ahead of COD download

A new Call of Duty Modern Warfare update is being prepped for launch this week by developers Infinity Ward.
And we’ve already started learning more about the changes being made to COD with the release of Season 1.
The new patch is being launched this week on PS4, Xbox One and PC and there will be no extra wait time for certain platforms like with past games.

One of the big parts of the new COD download will be the additional maps and modes, but there will also be the first Battle Pass for gamers to buy and unlock. This will include cosmetic items and rewards for all players, regardless of if you bought the premium version or not.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare Season 1 has a release date set for Tuesday, December 3, 2019.
As mentioned above, this new patch will need to be downloaded and installed to carry on playing the game online.
Activision has warned that some of it will arrive over the coming weeks, while there might also be some surprise additions made.
“Note that some of this content may drop later than the Season One start date of December 3, and additional content may be added to Season One,” the latest message from Activision reads.

“Check back here on December 3 where we’ll fully reveal the 100 tiers of the Battle Pass and reveal Season One in much greater detail.”
When it comes to a set launch time, nothing has been confirmed yet on when the COD update will be released.
From past experience, it seems likely that Infinity Ward will have Call of Duty Modern Warfare Season 1 available to install by 7pm, GMT.
There’s also a good chance that more will be confirmed about the launch in the coming days by the COD community team.

A number of new maps will be part of the COD download, as well as new modes and weapon expansions.
Season One includes the arrival of the Crash, Vacant and Shipment maps for multiplayer, as well as three new Gunfight maps.

New multiplayer modes include Reinforce, Gunfight OSP and Infected, which will be paired with weapon drops.Activision has also confirmed that additional Special Ops and Multiplayer maps are also in the works.Apart from the new content and Battle Pass, Activision is also changing how Officier Ranks will work in-game.This is for gamers who have smashed through the rank system and are now looking to take on new challenges.

Player Officer Rank will start over for those who have reached a certain point, with plenty of incentive in place to push on.
“Season 1 is almost upon us, and to celebrate the biggest content drop in Call of Duty history, Infinity Ward is turning on Double XP from now until December 2, so you can focus on completing the Officer Progression you’re already undertaking,” a message from Infinity Ward explains.
“On December 3, your Officer Rank achieved up until the start of Season 1 will be locked and memorialized with all the ribbons and final Officer Rank you have earned.

“That, as well as the two-weapon blueprints you may have unlocked for ranking up prior to Season 1 (the Hush at Rank 56, and O.G. at Rank 155 that D-Day is carrying in the previous image), should act as impressive bragging rights to your friends and the greater Call of Duty community!"

Earthbreakers is a spiritual successor to Command & Conquer: Renegade, out in 2020

Command & Conquer may have died in the early 2000s (I refuse to believe in the existence of Bigfoot, the Queen of England or Command & Conquer 4), but the franchise is currently poised to make a comeback in the 2020s. The classic spirit of real-time strategy games lives on in the form of Petroglyph, a studio largely made up of former Westwood developers who know a thing or two about the genre.

With games such as Grey Goo, Rise of the Immortals and Conan Unconquered in the bag, Petroglyph is currently bunkering down for hefty remasters of the original Command & Conquer and Red Alert, but that’s not all that they’re working on. Back in November, Petroglyph released a trailer for a game that goes by the name of Earthbreakers, a first-person shooter with RTS elements that has you waging war in a race to gather the precious resource of Vilothyte.

League of Legends’ newest champion Aphelios could also be its hardest to master, says Riot

Riot Games has revealed its latest playable champ.

Aphelios is the latest champion to be added to the League of Legends roster, and he could be one of the most complex characters to master yet, according to Riot Games. This new assassin character carries five weapons, including a deadly boomerang, a flamethrower, a cannon, something called a Scythe Pistol, and a long-range rifle.

“Most champions can be summarized relatively quickly, but Aphelios isn’t most champions,” says Riot in a breakdown of the new champion’s abilities. “Learning to wield the Weapon of the Faithful demands discipline, focus, and mental acuity, so consider this primer your first test of faith along the path to mastering a champion with one of the highest skill ceilings in the game.”

The rub is that you won’t be able to choose which weapons he’s carrying at any given time. Each of weapon has 50 ammo, and when that runs out, it’s automatically swapped for the next weapon in line that’s not currently equipped, while the empty weapon goes to the end of the line to recharge. But because the swap doesn’t include your offhand item, the order that weapons cycle changes throughout the match.

Minecraft-like RPG Hytale to be “playable by everyone” by 2021

Hypixel posted a new blog, the first in several months, discussing some of the challenges the team has encountered, including a mounting anxiety due to community expectation surrounding the game. “Hytale is an ambitious project and we have set high standards for ourselves, but the bar has been raised even higher by the community response,” the post reads. “It’s fair to say that we weren’t prepared for the degree of intense analysis that we’ve received, and we’re highly aware of the risks that have faced highly-anticipated games in the past. We know we’ve only got one chance to make a strong first impression with the finished game.”

Although Hypixel writes that it’s reticent to make any commitments until there’s something concrete to reveal, there is a plan for when the full release of Hytale is expected to occur, which is sometime in 2021. “Factoring in the scale of the project and the high bar we want to hit, we’re planning for Hytale to be playable by everyone in 2021,” the update says. “We’re very aware that this is a longer wait than many were expecting, but we believe that we owe our players the best possible game that we can make and that it’s important to be realistic about what it’ll take to get there.”

Hypixel goes on to reassure everyone that the vagueness is very much a symptom of keeping the game under control and getting development done as smoothly as possible. The studio is all too aware there’s still a dearth of important information, like pricing, and is keen to provide answers as soon as it can. “We know that players are waiting for answers on sensitive topics like beta testing, release platforms, and our business model. Unfortunately, it’s still too soon for us to make announcements in this regard – but we know how important these subjects are to the community, and they’ve not been forgotten.”

That said, there were some small accompanying tidbits to this post, such as a more in-depth look into the recent graphical upgrades, and four new tracks from the game’s soundtrack.

Hypixel, the namesake server the Hytale devs used to manage, is one of the best Minecraft servers, filled with minigames and activities. If you’re looking for ways to kill time before Hytale comes out, we have the best Minecraft mods and best Minecraft skins for your perusal.
