I think he's refering to Bloc... Showdown is 1 building built around a courtyard, Bloc has 2 buildings and I believe the burning barrels are the ones on the side where you can move up to the second floor via a collapsed part.
When UAV isn't on, it might even prove to be quite useful to just lay down in the middle of those burning barrels on the ground floor as people who rush in hardly ever check there...
Ah, yeah I forgot about the statue in the middle on Bloc. I never go there as it's a killing field in the middle.
I found on that map that as you move through the building lay claymores as you sweep through to cover your back. That way you can concentrate on people forward. Planting claymores in the fires make the lasers totally disappear and more likely to be tripped. This map is the one that a slow and methodical approach works the best. Run and gun is dumb because of all the hiding places where people camp.
i dont play cod4 on pc but for ps3 but a good tip is use all the guns. unlock everygun. when u can get 500HS with single fire weapons or go on 5 killstreaks with uzi's when using say G36C killing becomes easier.
Dont get use to one set up. create different classes and use them. The same class doesnt always work in the same maps. Obviously some maps are better using stealth set ups rather then sniping or 2 long range assult rifles.
Crouch walk is nice but dont over do it esp up or down stairs. if someone is camping yer dead before u can even see the ground. Run and gun works if used correctly.
DONT USE UAV INTILL YOUR 4TH KILL. no point wasting it on 3 and letting it run out before Airstike. you cant assume a teamate has one unless yer on TS and they say they do.
Coordinate Airstrikes. Like said before they dont go away so if u die and u have one ask if anyone else is close and camp n sit back. Drop back to back Airstikes on a full map and heli central. If its say 8vs 8 chances are all dead in the AS will respawn near there team second AS will whip em out bad. Then chanes are yull have 1 heli and a teammate will have a heli waiting. These things frustrate people to no end cause they no 0 control and it makes them play worse
Maps like overgrown bloc ambush use the tunnels and holes in the walls. U have no idea how many time in overgrown i crawl through the hole in the wall by the tanks and knife like 3 ppl at beg of the game. PPl norm camp entrances and not those holes. plus with grass yer not sean. (P.S. USE A STEALTH SET UP FOR THIS BOARD )
One of the most important commands in cod4 is the FPS command, and Ill tell you why. You probably already know that more fps makes the game feel much smoother. What you might not know is that COD4 is based on the q3 engine and is designed to work at 125 FPS.What this means for you is that your going to have problems interacting with the game under 125 FPS. This can mean any thing from not being able to climb objects, or even bad hit detection during fire fights. The problem is your fps is set to 85 by default, lets fix it. Bring down you console and type "/com_maxfps 125"LLKE OMGMGMGMGM BEST THIING EVER (with out "").
/cg_fov 80
Next up is the field of view command. FOV(field of view) is basically how much you can see on your monitor at one time. The higher the number the more you can see, which will give you a huge advantage over those who don't use this command. Default is 65 max is 80, to change it bring down your console and type "/cg_fov 80".HELPS YOU SEE BETTER PROS USE IT LIKE MAFIA SO YOU SHOULD
/r_drawdecals 1
Another helpful command is "r_drawdecals", set it to 1 for on and 0 for off. Its off by default, and don't be surprised if you turn it on then have to turn it off to get into certain servers. It basically cleans up some of the random paper and trash on the ground, and gives you an fps boost. But some servers want you to have bad fps and wont let you in unless its set to 0(note that the other commands will work fine on any server).
/maxpackets 100
Maxpackets next, this command command usually helps people who have good fps but bad hit registration. Default is 30 if your fps is set to 125 you should set maxpackets to this "/maxpackets 100".
/snaps 30
This command tells your cod4 server how many times to update positions of players, bullets ect per second. Default its 20 setting it to "/snaps 30" should make movement look smother and hits register better. IF YOU HATE SHOOTING AT PEOPLE AND THEY DONT GET HIT USE THIS ITS PRO FOR REG
if your playing a promod or pam match type /drawdecals 0 it makes it much easier to play but put it back to 1 when you go back i n a reg server or you shall be KICKED
The first tip was a lifesaver. I'm gonna get a new pc soon and really didn't wanna loose all my cod 4 progress but with that, i'm saved. Also I don't know if any1 has put this on here yet. If your just starting out use the mp5. Its one of the BEST in game guns for runnin and gunnin. that or the p90. Then if you get in a firefight with some1, go prone and shoot their feet. Works almost every time. You can even hop first then go prone but people will get pissed at you for that.
one thing that I ALWAYS use is the beautiful ability to ''Lean'' left or right.
very handy when trying to protect yourself from others visibility while maintaining a line of sight towards them. As well as a shooting line.
