    Default YUMM BOWL - Recipe

    YUMM BOWL

    Yumm Bowl
This recipe comes from a local restaurant here in Oregon that has made good a business that has now grown to six locations in Eugene, and 3 more in other cities in Oregon. Many people that have eaten at Cafe Yumm ,but move away from the area, find themselves contacting local relative and asking them to purchase Yumm sauce and ship it to them. There are eleven different sauces, and or dressings, each lending its own unique flavor to a dish. This is the Original Yumm Sauce recipe, but there is Jalapeno Sesame Salsa, Creamy Ginger Asian, and a Toasted black Sesame to name a few.
Now you are going to have to trust me on this one meat eaters, there is no meat in a Yumm Bowl, but they are fresh, flavorful, and delicious. I’m no vegetarian, friends classify me as a meat-a-tairian, but a Yumm Bowl contains rice and beans, nature complete protein. So it will fill you up, and you could always add chicken or beef to a Yumm Bowl if you feel the need, but try it without first to judge for yourself.
    ½ C Jasmine brown rice
    ¼ C Black beans
    ¼ C Pinto beans
2 T Yumm Sauce (recipe below)
    2 T Salsa Verde
    8 ea Black olives (chopped)
8 ea Grape/ cherry tomatoes (chopped)
    1 ea Celery stalk (diced)
3 T Green bell pepper (chopped)
    ¼ ea Avocado (rough chop)
Combine all ingredients in a bowl, do not stir, top with Yumm Sauce.

    YUMM SAUCE:
1/2 cup oil (I used a canola oil, olive adds an unwanted flavor)
    1/2 cup almonds
1/3 cup brewers yeast (the grocery store didn't carry brewers yeast specifically but assured me that fast acting yeast would be a good substitute. It seems to have worked).
1/3 cup garbonzo beans - drained (I used closer to 1/2 cup)
1/4 cup soybeans (again, the store didn't carry soybeans so I used a silken tofu and used approx. 1/2 cup. This seems to have worked.)
    1/2 cup water
    1/2 cup lemon juice
    2 garlic cloves
    1/2 tsp salt
    1 tsp curry powder

Blend nuts, beans and oil in food processor. Then blend in yeast and liquids one at a time. Puree until smooth. Voila!
If that is too much work, contact their web site at www.cafeYumm.com and purchase some. I am sure you can find the rest at your local grocer.
Enjoy. Not only is this flavorful, and filling, it also is only 460 calories a bowl. Excellent hang-over cure too ! BONUS !

Got folks at work eating this, and the Italian version of the recipe. You are all missing out. Give it a try, or improvise your own recipe and post it here.

No Problem to help out our team mates across the pond.

    1 Cup = 236 ml
    1/2 Cup = 118 ml
    1/4 Cup = 59 ml
    2 Tablespoons = 37 ml

    Enjoy ! <salute> |Fever| Strap

    Update: I have a few things to add to this wonderful dish;

    1. Do not us active dry yeast, fast acting yeast, in place of brewers yeast. Brewers yeast has been deactivated, which is what you want, the only other substitute that I can think of would be Nutritional Yeast, but alas its pretty much the same thing. Eating a lot of active yeast can actually be bad for you.

    2. And this is just something that I did as I cook Asian cuisine a lot and have learned my own personal tastes I added about 1/2 Tbls. of Sesame Oil, and OMG it took this stuff to another level for me!! Also I did use Olive Oil, Cold-Pressed Olive Oil as it in fact has a distinct subtle taste that I expect in a dressing of this nature.

    3. Contrary to the instructions, I stirred together the Rice, Beans, Bell Pepper, Celery, added Cilantro (not in original ingredient), and Yumm Sauce. Then I used the rest of the ingredients as a more of a topping or garnish, adding Cheddar Cheese and sour cream as well. This made for an amazing meal that you can be sure that I will be making over and over and over again, its just addictive and amazingly easy.
